Utsav Pandey, Ph.D., D(ABMM) is a board-certified clinical microbiologist. He is the Technical Director of Microbiology Services at Kaiser Permanente, Southern California Medical Group.
Before joining Kaiser Permanente, he was the chief of microbiology at Westchester Medical Center and clinical assistant professor in the Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology at the New York Medical College. Pandey completed his B.S. in biology and medical technology at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh and his Ph.D. in microbiology and molecular biology, studying herpesvirus genomics at Penn State University. Following this, he completed a 2-year postgraduate fellowship in clinical and public health microbiology at the Children's Hospital Los Angeles/the University of Southern California.
Pandey's research interests are developing and implementing next-generation sequencing-based assays for clinical diagnostics and pathogen surveillance. He has published on various topics, including assay and instrument evaluations, assay development, pathogen surveillance and viral genomics. He is an active member of the 海角社区app and the Southern California Branch of the 海角社区app.
